As we had finished the jigs for the fuselage, we just rolled right on ahead into making the upper longerons. We really can’t wait to get this thing looking more three dimensional.
We nailed the jigs to the table, put some packing tape down along the jigs so that the longerons wouldn’t stick to the table, and then wet out the mating surfaces of the strips of spruce per the plans. Having borrowed some additional clamps from a neighbor, we formed our longerons as shown below.
The longerons are the thin 3 ply strips that you see on either side of the jig. They form the top of the fuselage sides.
